How bad do sororities haze?

i'm thinking of pledging a sorority next semester but i'm a little worried about the hazing. anyone with experience in sororities: how bad/gross/demeaning is it? did anything put you in like physical harm? i mean i know it's part of pledging but i just don't really want to get hurt, ya know?
