Is Rosie Alvarez an ensemble role?

I just got cast as her for my summer show of Bye Bye Birdie. I auditioned for ensemble, and I'm not familiar with the show. She's an ensemble part, right? I'm happy with whatever I get.... I only want to get better as an actor! Any info is great!
