What should I do about my IPod?

my sister accidently washed my ipod in the washing machine and now it wont work. we put it on the charger for 2 days and you could see the background but the backlight didnt work. so we put it back on the charger for another day and then it didnt work at all. we kept it off the charger for 2 days and it still didnt work. my friend told me she dropped her phone in a bathtub full of water and then she put it in the freezer and then it worked like new. so i put my ipod in the freezer and now it still doesn't work. my mom says i should wait til it thaws out, but really, should i get a new ipod? is my ipod officially done for?
