Are americans drug addicted?

not just street drugs but presciption drugs also. i moved to america as a child and now call myself american. it seems many people around me love their prescription drugs and supposedly the war on drugs will never be won because of the demand for drugs. other countries are addicted as well, but it seems like americans get away with things others do not. not saying this is accurate just want thoughts opinions on this. i am not offended easily .i believe in free speech. also this is answers so really anyone saying this is a "stupid"' question should question their own intellect. this isn't a cl room!
